Hook ‘Em & Book ‘Em Fishing Tournament

Official Tournament Rules

  1. Violation of any tournament rule may result in disqualification at the sole discretion of the Tournament Director.
  2. All state, federal, and local laws must be obeyed.
  3. Any protest must be received in writing with TX numbers and signed within 15 minutes of the final check-in deadline to be considered. Tournament Committee decisions are final in all matters.
  4. All contestants are required to follow high standards of sportsmanship and courtesy.
  5. A U.S. Coast Guard approved personal flotation device (PFD) must be worn and fastened anytime the combustion engine is in gear. All boats must meet U.S. Coast Guard standards. Outboard motors must not exceed boat manufacturing ratings.
  6. Official tournament hours and checkpoints will be provided at registration and are the responsibility of each contestant.
  7. Upon entering this tournament, contestants release DPSOA/DPSTF, Hook ‘Em & Book ‘Em officials, host marina, and sponsors from liability for accidents, losses, or thefts.
  8. All fishing must cease promptly at 3:00 PM.
  9. Pre-registration is available online. On-site registration will take place Friday, October 2, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Roberts Point Pavilion in Port Aransas, Texas.
  10. All fish must be caught in a legal and sporting manner during tournament hours from tournament waters.
  11. No oversized or tagged trout or redfish will be judged.
  12. All fish must be caught by rod and reel.
  13. Fish will be measured on an official Pro Rule measuring board with tail pinched closed.
  14. The tournament is open to all anglers except professional anglers. A professional angler is defined as someone who has competed in more than one tournament within the last 6 months prior to the event with an entry fee greater than $2,500.
  15. Fishing guides may be used in the guided division at the angler’s expense. Guides may assist with casting and netting fish, but tournament participants must hook and reel in their own fish.
  16. Bay and surf fishing begins at 7:00 AM and ends at 3:00 PM. All catches must arrive at the weigh station by 4:00 PM on the same day they are caught.
  17. Eligible fish species include:
  • Redfish
  • Flounder
  • Speckled Sea Trout
  1. All fish must comply with Texas Parks & Wildlife legal size limits.
  2. Prizes for all divisions will be awarded for 1st and 2nd place fish by weight for each eligible species.
  3. Length and then girth will be used as tie-breakers if necessary.

Grand Champion Award

$750 Cash Prize

The Grand Champion will be determined by the angler with the heaviest combined weight of:

  • One Redfish
  • One Speckled Sea Trout
  • One Flounder

All guided and non-guided participants, regardless of division, are eligible for the Grand Champion award.

Only one Grand Champion winner will be selected.

Junior Division Rules

The Junior Division will award one winner per species. Junior anglers will also compete alongside the Men’s and Women’s Divisions for the overall Grand Champion award.
